I started fishing in the lakes of Minnesota. My father was in the
military so I had the opportunity to travel all over the US and
Europe and made fishing at each location a priority. After
college and settling down in San Diego, I worked on some of the
local boats and was able to get enough experience to get my
100 ton captains license. I opened up OEX Dive & Kayak
Centers in 1995, which has grown into a business that I love. I
got married to my wife Staci (who is typing this right now and
pointed out that I should mention that I love her as well) who has
put up with my 3:00 am alarms to go fishing throughout the
years. I have two daughters, Riley who is 6 and Kendal who is
2. I've been bringing them out on the kayak recently and they
seem like naturals.
Between my business and family, I don't have as much time as
I'd like to get out on the water, so I really enjoy living vicariously
through all of the kayak fishermen that I meet each day at the
shop. Anytime I can go out fishing is a day I enjoy and hope to
continue doing this with my friends and family.
My passion is going down to my place in Cabo and targeting all
kinds of game fish that the area has to offer. At some point in
my life, I would like to have caught every type of game fish. I'm
close, but not there yet!

- Wahoo Fishing in Fiji (caught one that fed the island for a
week...it was a small island)! - Red Drum Fishing in the Bayou, New Orleans
- Blue Fin Tuna in Italy
- Blue Marlin in Hawaii
- 82 lb Dorado in Cabo
- Cabo Slam (Rooster Fish, Sierra, Pargo)
